Done in 3 - Level 1

Dog Training & Behaviour Courses offered at various venues throughout Northern Ireland & the Republic of Ireland

Force-Free • Treat-Free • Transformational

At Dog Guru, we believe in the profound connection between humans and dogs.
As renowned human psychologist Ashleigh Warner once said:

“Beneath every behaviour is a feeling, and beneath every feeling is a need.”

This truth sits at the heart of everything we do.
When a dog struggles, it’s not about obedience or dominance —
it’s about understanding what they feel, and meeting what they need.

Our role is to guide you — the dog parent — towards the skills, insight, and calm confidence
that allow your dog to truly relax, trust, and thrive.

For over 30 years, Keith Mathews – The Dog Guru — has pioneered a force-free, treat-free and emotionally intelligent approach to dog training and behaviour, grounded in his exclusive, trademarked Calmness Leads to Reward® methodology.

This is not about constant bribery with food.
It’s about building a deeper bond through clarity, connection, and emotional balance.

We don’t just train dogs.
We teach humans how to lead with calmness, empathy, and consistency —
unlocking lasting change from the inside out.

What Our Clients Say

FAQ's
What is the “Done in 3” programme?

Our ‘Done in 3’ programmes are focused, fully immersive dog training and behaviour courses that deliver transformational results in just three 75-minute weekly sessions.

They are designed to help you build a calm, trusting, and emotionally balanced relationship with your dog — using our exclusive Calmness Leads to Reward ® methodology.

Who leads the classes?

Every session is personally led by Keith Mathews – The Dog Guru, who brings over 30 years of professional hands-on expertise using his uniquely developed “Calmness Leads to Reward” methodology.

What is “Calmness Leads to Reward”?

“Calmness Leads to Reward” ® is an emotionally intelligent, science based, positive, force free and treat-free dog training method that focusses on giving dog parents the tools, knowledge and understanding to guide their dog with connection, confidence, empathy and clarity.

What makes this programme different from other dog training classes?

Most other dog trainers adopt a symptomatic approach to your dogs unwanted behaviour without addressing the root cause of the problem and usually rely on transactional training with treats to divert unwanted behaviours these quick fix methods only provide short lived results.

At Dog Guru we do things differently. Unlike others, we do not primarily focus on the symptomatic behaviour first. Instead, we focus on the reasons for your dog’s emotional behaviour.

We get to the source, the root cause and identify the triggers, thought patterns, learned behaviours, and experiences.

Using our Calmness Leads to Reward methodology we apply multiple emotionally intelligent, science based positive dog training and behaviour techniques to change your dog’s perception, helping them address the fears and anxieties at the core of their unwanted behaviour.
We apply similar cognitive analytical therapy tools used in human psychotherapy.

We provide you with the knowledge and understanding, required to give your dog the confidence, to allow them to process and change their behaviour which ultimately results in permanently fixing their problems forever.

We don’t just train dogs — we teach dog parents to guide with confidence, empathy, and clarity.

Will 3 sessions really be enough?

Absolutely — 3 sessions can be truly transformational.
Our Done in 3 – Level 1: Essentials course is designed to create powerful change in a short amount of time. Over the course of the three immersive sessions, you’ll gain the tools, emotional insight, and calm communication techniques needed to transform how you live, lead, and connect with your dog.

But that transformation depends on you, too.
Between each session, you’ll be given daily exercises to practise at home — and it’s the calm, consistent work you do in between classes that brings the deeper change to life with your dog.

This isn’t about a quick fix. It’s the start of a lifelong shift — in how you understand your dog, how they respond to you, and how you move forward together. The results don’t end when the sessions do; they continue to unfold long after your course has finished.

Once you’ve completed our Level 1 – ‘Essentials’ programme you will have the opportunity to continue to grow and progress through our three level learning pathway with each level designed to deepen your confidence, calmness, and connection as a dog parent and truly cement the bond you have already begun.

So yes — 3 sessions are enough and will be transformative.
And if you want more? We’re ready to walk that path with you every step of the way.
The transformation begins here.
